Fulcrum Labs and Aviation Institute of Maintenance Present Award-Winning Program at Fifth Annual Central States Private Education Network Conference in Chicago

Fulcrum Labs, the industry leader in AI-powered adaptive learning technology and training outcomes, today announced it will present findings from its award-winning program with partner Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) at this year’s Central States Private Education Network (CSPEN) Conference to be held in Chicago, Aug. 20-22.

Conference attendees from private and public colleges will see firsthand how Fulcrum’s AI-powered Adaptive 3.0 learning platform helped AIM, one of the nation’s premier aviation mechanic training programs, prepare learners at its 12 campuses nationwide to sit for and pass critical FAA certification exams. The presentation will cover Fulcrum’s methodology, technology, and implementation strategy that helped AIM increase program graduates, encourage higher exam participation rates and improve certification pass rates by more than 46% percent. It will also touch on what higher education institutions can expect from the next era of adaptive learning – a concept the two partners are collaborating on together called Adaptive 4.0.

“The success of our partnership with Fulcrum Labs has empowered us to set new, exciting goals for our company,” said Joel English, vice president at AIM. “Armed with this technology and the dramatic outcomes it delivers, our institution is committed to producing 20% - or one in every five – of all certified aviation mechanics for the industry by 2020. This will help the aviation industry move toward unprecedented certification rates and contribute to solving a persistent and critical skill gap that has plagued the industry for years.”

Fulcrum’s Adaptive 3.0 learning platform is the only adaptive solution on the market that leverages AI and machine learning to mimic the experience of a one-on-one coach or instructor in real time. Research shows that this approach can improve performance by two standard deviations and positively correlates to persistence, retention and degree attainment. In practice, this means learners experience a highly personalized learning environment that delivers just the right amount of challenge to keep them engaged, build their confidence and ensure they master the subject matter. For institutions, this translates into improved student retention, higher rates of graduation and data-science-based predictive analytics that reveal deep, actionable insights into student populations and instructional efficacy.

“I’ve been surprised by how rarely I’ve seen the topic of Adaptive Learning at conferences like ours,” said Jeri Prochaska, one of CSPEN's executive directors. “We are excited to be able to share expertise on this exciting technology at our conference first.”

Representatives from Fulcrum Labs and AIM will present their program, Adaptive Learning 3.0 & Future of On-line Education, on Aug. 22, 2019, at 10:15 a.m. in the Holabird Room of the Intercontinental Chicago Magnificent Mile. The company’s proprietary Adaptive 3.0 learning platform leverages AI, machine learning and data-science-driven predictive analytics to build and verify learner confidence and subject matter mastery; nurture learner autonomy and self-remediation; identify those at risk of not applying the learning; evaluate the integrity of course content; and foster a culture of learning within universities and academic institutions. Fulcrum’s adaptive platform also improves student achievement and outcomes. It was the only adaptive system in a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation study that was able to demonstrably improve both learning outcomes and increase learner course satisfaction. Four-year universities, community colleges, trade schools and test prep providers have leveraged Fulcrum’s flexible platform to meet their unique needs – delivering everything from flipped classrooms (as textbook replacement) to standalone courses to targeted exam preparation.
